Farewell Faye Africa garland

1 Jun

Sweet mother...

My dear friend and housemate of three years, ventured off a couple of weeks ago to go in search of the beauty of Ghana.

Inspiration: Not wanting her to go without a little love thrown her way we held a small farewell soiree, complete with finger foods, films, presents and tears (from Faye.) I tried to fix up the joint with a little garland in the shape of the continent of her destination. It was an easy project as Africa is such an easily recognised shape, the rough edges really suited the minimalist brown packaging paper.

Project: I simply folded over a few pages (to kill a few birds with one stone/scalpel) and freehanded the desired shape trimming around the design with a sharp scalpel. I then stapled an odd number of Africa’s (evenly spaced) to a length of string.

Apologies for the rushed writing - and awful picture quality

TOP TIP: I attached the string on the wall using blu-tac, masking tape works brilliantly also.
